Importance of Co-Curricular Activities

There is a famous saying “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. This is only confined to a four walls of a four walls of a classroom with students and a teacher …no, it is not !in my sense, Education has no form .It can be distributed in many forms. Education can be concisely described as a sense which nurtures individual psychologically, physically, mentally and in short in all the types needed for development of individual. In a eon of time, Education makes an individual benign by nature, comely and bravura in order to complete the world.

In the course of time, Education has changed its form, In ancient India, Education was confined to a set of people which was used for mythological and for every individual and had a main purpose.

In the 21st century the pure academic type of Education that students are introduced to, is steadily paving wars to a whole new type of Education with a special focus to incorporate three major generes of education Reasoning, Psychomotor and Emotional learning.

Education is a pretty broad concept that expresses the four walls of a classroom. The core aim of Education is to faster all round development of a child. All round development essentially means Intellectually, Physically, Moral, Senside and social development as a culturally well developed social animal. To fulfil these objectives, there is a prime need of striking a balance between syllabus, Curiculum, Boots and also co-curricular activities beyond that.

A co-curricular activity essentially takes place outside a typical pen and a pencil classroom experience. It gives thje students an opportunity to develop particular skills and exhibits their non -academic abilities. These activities might be compulsory, such as music, art and drama classes that takes place during the day .now a days, schools and institutions helps their students to progress in their interests and help them to reach a higher level. An example can be taken from the aim “Taare Zameen Par” though the story is picturized, it adds a sense and provide a good example for the importance of co-curricular activity. The movie show cases that how a student is helped by a teacher to overcome his weakness and prove his excellency in his interest. The example reflects with a Chinese proverb which optly states

“Teach me, and I will forget. Show me and I might remember. Involve me and I will never forget”.

To a very great extent, the theoritical knowledge is enhanced when a co-curricular activity related to the content taught, is organized students also feel a sense of belonging to top the school and have higher self esteem by participating in structural activities like music, dance, performing arts etc. Many of them make these activities as their prime interest and succeed in it. In addition to this, students are motivated and it leads to a happier healthier and a more cohesive school.
