International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers

“The heroes of the world community are not those who withdraw when difficulties ensue, not those who can envision neither the prospect of success nor the consequence of failure -- but those who stand the heat of battle, the fight for world peace through the United Nations.”

-- Hubert Humphrey

On Tuesday, 29th May 2018, a special assembly was organized at Meenakshi World School to commemorate International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers. On this day, students were enlightened about the various peace keeping missions undertaken by the United Nations in collaboration with different countries to ensure peace and harmony in the world. The International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers is a tribute to people who serve or have served in UN peacekeeping operations. The peacekeepers are honoured for their high level of professionalism, dedication and courage. People who died for peace are also remembered. Through a short presentation followed by documentaries made by the United Nations students were appraised about this day. Though this assembly, the endeavor was to make students more understanding towards their surroundings and understand how important it is to keep the forces of peace intact.
